We arrived Friday night at our hotel, the Provincetown Inn,
just across the street from the park commemorating the first landing of
the Pilgrims. |
The center of Provincetown and the Pilgrim Monument are a
mile's walk away. |
The hotel is at the very tip of Cape Cod. Our hotel is the
last place you can reach by road. |
After dinner and a drag show we returned to the hotel for
an after-hours party whose theme was "Dress Like a
Year-Rounder." We don't see too many transvestites with pink hair,
though. |
Most even made it to breakfast Saturday morning. |
Most chose to walk to the town center, passing a real
variety of architecture. |
This sign, located just to the right of the door in the
above picture, indicates that this was one of several houses moved by
boat. |
Definitely one of the nicer houses that we passed. |
An octagonal house. |
This lovely garden poses an age-old question. |
The Portuguese Princess over the bagpiper's shoulder is our
whale-watching vessel. |
We pass the last lighthouse on Cape Cod on the way out of
Provincetown Harbor. |
The truly hardy braved the wind at the ship's bow. |
Others kept warm inside. |
It got a bit wet from the salt spray out there. |
There it is, our first whale. |
That's us watching the whale's tail. |
This looks like the other end of the whale. |
All those pictures that you see of a whale's tail are real.
Our whale assumes the classic position.. |
This is more typical of the photos we got, though. |
We were in for a real treat when we discovered a cow and
her calf who performed for us. |
We were all watching the baby on our left... |
when Mama breached on our right. All that most of us saw
was the splash. |
The sea air can certainly make a person tired. |
Here's the whole gang of whale watchers safely back on
shore. |
A T-shirt in a store window on Commercial Street. |
At the Saturday night banquet we introduced guest of honor
TCI Woman of the Year Carol Hudson along with all the royalty in
attendance. |
Weekend chairmen Kay and Karl Helberg surrounded by their
committee. |
We danced the night away to the tunes of DJ Bob Learnard. |
Our guest of honor, Carol Hudson, with King Stefan Shcherby. |
Club president Al Wainwright sits out the Electric Slide.
Can you blame him? |
After-hours was a pajama party. |
Isn't it nice to be surrounded by a couch of babes? But
take a really good look. In Provincetown things aren't always as they
appear. |
After the awards breakfast Sunday morning it was time to
load up the cars and head home. |
Hugs all around. It's been a Whale of a Weekend! See you next time. |
